February 2010 - From your DeKalb Democratic Chairman

Listening to the Presidents State of the Union speech, I truly felt good about the future of America. I saw the Republicans sitting on their hands, planning to fight against everything mentioned even if it is good for their state and district. Then we heard their negative comments about the speech and their weak attempts to criticize the President on the job he has done. It will take more than a year to fix the damage they have done during the "W" years.

The President said jobs must be the number one focus in 2010. I think everyone agrees that America's middle class has to go back to work. Obama rightly pointed out that his Administration has taken the right steps to alleviate the economic suffering of working people.

On the state level the Republicans are set to spend millions in an effort to take over the state legislature and senate. Riley has been raising money for years to make this happen. We won't have the funds to match them, but I guarantee we will out work them.

The local races are very important at every level. Offices up for election are: State Senate, State Representative (Districts 24, 26, 29, 39),Sheriff, District Attorney, Circuit Judge, Commission Chairman, Commissioners (District 3 & 4), and Board of Education (District 5).
We have great candidates and need a great turnout to elect DEMOCRATS at every position. Please get involved in this most important election.

Ed Burke
Democratic Chairman
